This is the story of André Leemax, a singer and composer born in the city of Belém, in the state of Pará, who has been gaining more and more space in the Brazilian music scene.
Leemax began his musical career singing in the school choir during high school. Later, he worked in musical theater and performed in various cultural spaces, such as dances, bars and theaters. In 1991, he performed his first show at the Teatro Waldemar Henrique, in Belém.
Alongside big names in music from Pará, such as Nilson Chaves and Joelma Kláudia, he participated in the first Virada Cultural de Concórdia do Pará. In 2017, he debuted the show "Reforma", at SESC Boulevard, in Belém, and the following year, he presented the show "Revolta" at Teatro Margarida Schivazappa, which continued touring other stages in the capital of Pará, including Teatro Waldemar Henrique, where it all began.
In 2019, he was one of the artists invited to honor the 114th anniversary of the birth of maestro Waldemar Henrique, at Theatro da Paz.
Limax made his first recordings in Rio de Janeiro, where he lived at the time, with the songs "Garoto de Aluguel" by Zé Ramalho, "Noite sem fim" and "Letras e Melodias" by Martha Vê. In Fortaleza, he recorded a live album with violinist Ivar Luz, in addition to the single "Tantos Versos" by Paulo Façanha, Dawlton Moura and Gilmar Nunes, and an album of reinterpretations of hits by artists such as Nando Reis, Marisa Monte and Skank. In 2017, he released the single "Bandeira em Marte" by Isabela Moraes. In May 2019, he made his first original single, "Amanhecer Boa Noite", available on digital platforms, a partnership with São Paulo native Thiago Giacomelli.
His dedication and talent earned him important recognition, such as the Plaqueta Waldemar Henrique, an honor granted by the Belém City Council, and three awards at the traditional Artists' Ball: New Singer in 2008, Highlight in Music in 2015 and Best Show for "Revolta", in 2019.
In 2020, together with Léo Chermont, Limax produced his first completely original album, released in March 2021. With a musical style that he defines as MPB Pop, André Leemax continues to win more and more fans throughout Brazil, with his music and his story inspiring.
The new album is already in production, "Labirinto" and the first single is now available for pre-save on Instagram @andreleemax.
